Novel computer-based techniques for exploring handwritten documents

Historical documents contain a rich vein of information to a wide variety of groups. In this presentation we highlight a number of recent developments within the DocExplore project to analyse the contents of a manuscript using computer-based techniques, including low-training word-spotting - the ability to identify text from within a handwritten manuscript - and a forensic analysis of handwriting in an attempt to assess different writers within a text.
